Today I went out to Paul Tisdale's farm just south of the village to photograph his sunflowers. Paul grows sunflowers for the black oil seeds found in birdfeed. If you've bought seed to feed the birds, you are likely using Paul's seed.
Unfortunately, I went out at about 4:30 pm to see how the sun would reflect off the flowers only to find that all the flowerheads were facing East, which meant I was shooting into the sun! This can sometimes give you quite an effect, but not the one I wanted. I'll have to go out in the morning to catch the sun on the flowerheads.

less, I did get some decent shots under the circumstances. I shot dual Raw/jpegs to try and work more with raw files. I was pleasantly surprised and may just shoot raw alone next time, although it was nice to have the jpeg back up. I also decided to try the macro function on my Sigma 70-300 zoom and again was pleasantly surprised at the results. I showed the grasshopper files to Gloria who has a hatred of crickets, grasshoppers and bugs in general.... I think she may speak to me by next Wednesday!
Well, I couldn't go back in the morning it was pouring rain. See you next blog
